Limit on Depositing a Cheque Online on Monzo App
It is possible to deposit a cheque on the Monzo app, but this online method has limits. These are:
- Maximum of £500 Cheque
- 4 cheques per day
1. £500 Cheque Limit:
For online cheque deposits, Monzo restricts the amount to £500. This is the maximum amount of cheque you can pay to your Monzo account through the bank app.
However, if the cheque is over £500, Monzo requires sending it by post office. The cheque will be processed and credited to your account within 2-4 weeks.
2. 4 Cheques Daily
Monzo limits the number of cheque payments online to 4 per day. Obviously, this is not an issue for most customers.
If you have more than 4 cheques to deposit to your Monzo account in a day, spread them to other days. For example, pay in 4 cheques the first day and deposit the rest (if less than 4) the next day.
This is the summary of Monzo’s online cheque deposit limit: You can pay in 1 to 4 cheques daily on the Monzo app if each cheque is 500 GBP or less.

A cheque deposit on the Monzo bank app takes 3 business days to reflect. Though online, the cheque will not be paid into your Monzo account instantly.
Note: it is 3 business days and not days.
For example, if you deposit a cheque on Monday, it will reflect within 3 days. But if you pay in the cheque on Friday, it will take more days to reflect in your account as weekends are not business days.

Post Office: Monzo’s Alternative to Deposit Cheques Online
Another option to deposit cheques to a Monzo account is through the Post office. Being a digital bank, this has been Monzo’s default way of accepting cheques from customers and paying them into their accounts.
To use this method, envelope your cheque and post it to the Monzo address. It will be processed and credited to your account within 2-4 weeks.
Ideally, use the post office method to pay in the cheque to your Monzo account if:
- Monzo rejects the photo of the cheque on the bank app.
- The cheque amount is more than £500.
If not, it is better to use the Monzo app, rather than the post office, to deposit the cheque. With the Monzo app, it takes 3 business days for the amount to reflect in your account but post office takes 2-4 weeks.
